Transfer Essentials

1

Transferring Credits

Students transferring from a community college may transfer up to 12 criminal justice credits into the major.

Additionally, statistics courses equivalent to MAT 311 from a community college will be accepted into the major.

We accept courses equivalent to CRJ 101, CRJ 201, CRJ 202 and/or CRJ 204. The department does not acknowledge any course from a community college as upper level.

Students transferring from a four-year institution may transfer more than 12 credits into the major. The department chair will help determine which CRJ courses are transferable.

2

Planning to Transfer?

If you plan on transferring to the Criminal Justice Department at SUNY Buffalo State, it is highly advisable that you take an A.A. or A.S. program rather than an AAS program at a community college.

The Criminal Justice Department will take up to 12 credits of criminal justice courses from any community college into its major curriculum, regardless of how many criminal justice courses a transfer student has taken at a community college.

3

Police/Military Training

The department does not accept police or military training as equivalent to coursework in the major.
